RGC’s Gymnast of the Year 2021 is Emma Slevin.
Training with RGC since the age of 7 it was soon apparent that Emma had a natural aptitude for gymnastics. This, combined with her work ethic, eagerness to learn and her commitment to her training, she quickly progressed into the Performance Programme under coach Sally Batley.
Emma has represented RGC at National Level and has also represented Ireland in
International events since 2014. In 2017 Emma was selected to represent Ireland for the European Youth Olympics in Hungary. In 2018 Emma made history for Ireland after qualifying for four separate finals at the World Youth Olympic Games in Argentina. In April 2021 she again made history once again by becoming the first Irish female gymnast to qualify for a senior all around final at any European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. In October of the same year Emma became the first Irish female gymnast to qualify for a senior all around final at the World Championships in Japan.
It has been and continues to be both a pleasure and privilege to witness Emma’s journey. She is a fantastic example to all the athletes here at RGC, and an inspiring teammate.
