National Development Squad 2016:
Well done to all our gymnasts that successfully qualified onto the Irish National Development squad for this year. Last weekend they took part in their first training session of the year which was held in Galway at our own training centre.
Super work girls and we’re sure you will have a great year and make us very proud with all your hard work and progress!
Those who successfully qualified for this year include:
Catriona McHugh (missing from the picture)
Sunday the 20th of Jan 2013 was the first training session for the National Irish 2020 Olympic Start Squad, part of the National Performance Program. Amongst the twenty-eight members of this Nationwide squad proudly nine have been selected from Galway’s Renmore Gymnastics Club.
The girls had a tremendous first training session where they underwent a thorough assessment against the National testing criteria demonstrating not only that they were rightfully selected for this squad but also setting a very high standard and benchmark for many others to follow. With such a young highly talented squad the future is certainly bright for the Renmore Gymnastics. As the new season begins we wish them and all their fellow club mates a great year.
2020 Olympic Start Squad:
Ellen Hynes and Emmeline Anghileri are in the 2016 Olympic Squad. We wish them a great start to their year when they attend their first Irish National 2016 Olympic squad in Belfast on Feb 9th.
We have successfully qualified eleven gymnasts across two of the three preselected squads (none old enough for national B squad yet) and some great talent preparing for national development squad as well!
Well done to the management that allow us coaches to concentrate on just teaching gymnastics! It’s a great team effort and fantastic start to 2013.
