The 6th Allianz Resolution Run was a big success!

post race 2016
The 6th Allianz Annual Resolution Run took place last Friday – New Year’s Day. The race had its largest entry to date with 428 registrations. There was a great mix of athletes from national clubs and the many families who made the run. On the plus side, the weather was much improved from last year making it all more cheerful!

There was great support from RGC and Monivea RFC parents who volunteered to marshal at over 25 junctions along the route.

Refreshments for all those taking part were organised and served by some very willing and helpful RGC mums –  Martha Molloy, Carmel Mahon, Sylvia McDonagh, Breda Smyth, Anne-Celine Donohoeand and Carol Hynes.

The race could not have taken place without the many volunteers support and especially the hard working committee who spent many hours planning and co-ordinating it beforehand –  Philip Harkin , John Molloy, Tony Killarney, Paul Shaughnessy,  John Donohoe and James Quirke.

Many thanks again for making the 2016 Allianz Resolution Run the most successful yet. All proceeds to go towards gym equipment.

RGC 1st Annual Club Competition a Great Success!

Congratulations to all the athletes who participated in the 1st Annual RGC Competition on Sunday May 11th 2014. You all did a fabulous job with your routines on the day and the coaches are VERY proud of each and every one of you!

We had over 60 gymnasts compete the level 1A routines in the morning session. For all gymnasts involved this was their first competition experience. Although battling nervous energy each gymnast successfully competed floor routines with beauty and grace. Along with floor routines each had a vault to perform too! Gymnasts sprinted down the vault strip performing powerful vault after vault! Excellent work gymnasts!

In the afternoon session we saw a mixture of some of our young level 1 club gymnasts and our older pre-teens compete the 1B and 1C routines. The gymnasts made it look easy! Performing on vault and floor with fantastic strength and agility.

Excellent work overall by all the gymnasts involved! We can’t wait to start getting ready for next year!

Good Luck getting ready for GYMFEST!

Another round of applause for all the volunteers who made the day possible. Thank you for your support, time and dedication. Without you such an event would never have been possible. Anyone interested in getting involved with next years competition please let us know.

Yet another load of fun at Renmore Gymnastics

Coaches Sally and Dale travelled up the country today to collect a load of “previously bounced upon” gymnastics equipment which we recently purchased.

Some of the new equipment

“I can’t honestly say that we had planned long and hard to buy this specific equipment,” said Sally, “but the opportunity arose to acquire a large volume of equipment in excellent condition at a very good price, so we went for it. The cost was about a third of buying new, and really there is nothing we won’t use.”

“We won’t use the skateboards,” replied Dale.

“That’s true,” said Sally, “but maybe we could have a skateboard raffle. We need somehow to raise the funds to pay for all this!!!”

Iggy Madden Delivers the Goods

Coaches and equipment arrived at the training centre about 6pm this evening. Unloading began, while training continued despite the disruption. Immediately afterwards all the available coaches got stuck in wiping, arranging, and assembling the new equipment. Much of it will be in use from tomorrow, including two new floor beams, a new parallel bars, two dozen mats, and much more. A small amount of the new equipment will be stored safely until we have more training space, and one or two small pieces will be donated to other groups in Galway.

Mats and much of the equipment will be in use from tomorrow.

Thanks to all who helped today, especially Sally who gave up her day off, coaches Dale and Sam who put in the overtime, and the parents who helped out with the unloading. Thanks also to Iggy Madden Transport who gave us a good price on the haulage.

The equipment was purchased from a club which had closed down several years ago in another part of the country. We were sorry their own club didn’t continue, but happy to put the equipment to good use immediately.

RGC Family Fun Day – Great fun had by all!

Family Fun Day   This event took place on Sunday November 17th at 2pm until 6pm.  This proved to be a very enjoyable day for all.  The feedback we have received is that all attendees had a lot of fun.  We would like to say a very sincere thanks to all who supported this fun event by purchasing tickets, attending the event and also donating and purchasing books at the Book Sale where we sold second hand books for all ages.  There were some great bargains there!

Great Success at RGC Table Quiz

Once again the fundraising committee would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended our Table Quiz on Wednesday 9th of October in Crowes Bohermore.  A lot of fun was had on the night and of course money raised towards our defibrillator for the club.  All spot prizes were kindly donated by parents in the club and for that we are extremely grateful.  Every effort that is made makes it easier for the committee to run events.

The next event we have planned is in fact a Family Fun Day on Sunday November 17th at 2pm until 6pm.  Tickets cost €20 and will be on sale in advance of the event through the committee at the club.  Tickets admit a family of 5 and parental supervision is required.  This promises to be a very enjoyable day for all.  We will also be holding a Book Sale on the day where we will be selling second hand books for all ages.  We will be accepting books for donation to this event at the club also.

For any other details please ring or text Sylvia 087-6564440 or Sinead 087-0568067.

Movie Night – Another Fundraising Success!!

The fundraising committee would like to thank all contributors to Saturday’s successful RGC Movie Night.  Great fun was had by all.  We are making some progress on filling the pot for our pits and very much appreciate all the efforts being made by parents, gymnasts and volunteers alike.  We are always looking for new ideas and of course new faces to help out so please don’t feel shy about approaching anybody within the club with ideas or offers of help – they are always ready to point you in the right direction of what forum these ideas can be raised at.

Looking forward already to our next event and seeing you all there again.
