Jessica – Learning the Ropes

Hello!

My name is Jessica, originally from Canada (with an Irish dad).  You may have seen me around the gym over the past couple of weeks.  I am delighted to be joining the Renmore Gymnastics team.  It is inspiring to work with such dedicated people.  My role will be to answer any questions (from behind the sliding window) parents may have, set up meetings with coaches, take in leotards/payment – anything at all that I can do to help.

My background is in Fine Art having studied at Limerick School of Art and Design and Central Saint Martins, London.  So the second part of my job will be to document all the brilliant progress that the gymnasts are making both in photos and video that will then be available to view here on the website and also on our facebook page.

I look forward to meeting everyone!!

New Rings for Men’s Artistic!

The new rings were installed last weekend, thanks especially to Brian, Ciarán, Yutaka and Rob.
The boys are excited, and well they should be, as they have been waiting the past 22 months for the rings! Six weeks of looking at the rings in the box was almost unbearable!
Ok lads, no more excuses…. go get ’em!

Training with Rick McCharles

All gymnasts and coaches at Renmore were really excited to have Rick McCharles visit us again. He has been a fantastic asset to the club, with creative game ideas and new drills. With every visit he has helped us either move forward on new skills or continue with ones we’ve started.

Thank you Rick McCharles!!

Celtic Cup 2nd Trial

We would like to wish good luck to two of our gymnasts, Ellen Hynes and Roisin Curran, both age 11, who will be competing for spots on the minor team (under 13) to represent Ireland at the Celtic Cup in April.

This is another first for our club as we have never had gymnasts able to trial for international competitions. There is one more trial in March to determine the final team for the competition that includes Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Isle of Man. This year the competition is being held in Dublin.

The first trial was held during National Teams Championships where the girls with their team came 3rd and Ellen Hynes came 3rd overall.

This second trial will be held in Janz Gymnastics Club on Sunday 22nd January.

Good luck girls!!!!

National Squad Success

Renmore Gymnastics is delighted to announce the recent success and selection of two of our gymnasts onto the Irish National Squad.

Early December both Ellen Hynes and Emmeline Anghileri along with 4 other Renmore Team mates competed at the Irish National Teams Championship where a very successful day saw Renmore gymnasts standing on the podium. All results from this competition go forward for National Squad selection and we would like to congratulate these gymnasts for placing 2nd and 3rd overall in the minors section (Emmeline in 2nd, and Ellen in 3rd), securing their places on this years National Squad. Well done girls, it’s good to see all your hard work paying off!
Pictured Below also are some of our Pre-Minor members who train once a month as part of the National Irish Super Squad for under 10’s. (absent Kate Molloy and Daniela Goluba)

WELL DONE ALL LEVEL 1 GYMNASTS!

Welcome back Rick!

We are delighted to have coach mentor Rick McCharles from www.GymnasticsCoaching.com back with us for a few days. This is his second (of many, we hope!) visit to Galway. Rick is just returning from the London Olympic Test Meet where he met with Irish Gymnastics Olympian Kieran Behan. (Come to visit us in Galway, Kieran!)

Rick has a great vibrant energy that he brings with him wherever he goes. He is full of enthusiasm, optimism, encouragement – he inspires coaches, and with over thirty years hands-on coaching experience, he comes in quite useful in a gymnasium full of kids. He’s a strong believer that gymnastics should always be safe and fun!

This time around Rick is traveling not only as a coach mentor, but also as an ambassador for Tumble Trak, an American equipment supplier. Our 2012 budget is already toast with plans for some pits in our gym, but a couple of those Air Floor Pro inflatable track sections would sure be handy to have for public displays and events.

Welcome, Rick! We hope you enjoy your time in Galway this week. We will!

Renmore Judging Success

Renmore Gymnastics would like to congratulate 3 of our fabulous Judges for their recent exam successes!!! Judging development is a hugely beneficial area for RGC and we are delighted to send out a huge thank you and well done to all three lovely ladies pictured below!

• Sadhbh Sheahan – Passed Club 1-6 (pictured left)
• Samantha Marciano – Passed Regional 7-10 (pictured center)
• Ceire Higgins – Passed Regional 7-10 (pictured right)

Brian and Rob!!!

Well what can I say except that every gym needs a Brian McDonagh and a Rob Fuller! Thanks to them our gym has even more wonderful improvements! They have spent the first week of January building a wooden edging to our sprung floor, giving us an even larger working space, and have also been decorating our changing rooms and toilets, Many hours were spent on this and we are very grateful for their generous giving of time and energy!!!

Thanks Guys!

With this development, all gymnasts will now enter the gym through the left hand door and proceed to the changing rooms where all of the cubby holes have been more conveniently relocated. There is to be no entering the gym through the right hand door as the bar set up has now occupied this space and a corridor here is now posing danger issues. Thank you for your co-operation with this matter.
